Our History

Online Turf began as part of the farming community in 1933, until times changed and farming became no longer a profitable concern. Choosing to divert into grass turf in 1989 was a big step, but proved to be a wise decision made by the then partners (now directors), Ian and Andrew Mercer.

Online Turf has since seen the turf nursery grow from 40 acres to 1000 acres and we are still looking to expand. A new workshop and turf loading bay was recently built and the old farm buildings taken down.

We have recently made changes to the collection/reception area to provide an improved service for customers who collect direct from us.

Originally focussed on the North West of England, we now deliver grass turf supplies across the UK. We are also pioneers in the UK in offering a service to our customers of buying turf supplies online. We set the Standards others will follow.

Our Quality

We use only the finest sandy soils for growing turf, usually about 80-90% sand. Our grass seeds are of the highest quality STRI rated cultivars.

We sell and deliver only freshly lifted grass turf. We provide a weed-free quality guarantee so you can be confident you are buying top quality turf.

Our Customers

Our domestic customers come from across the UK and from all walks of life. They may be expert gardeners or simply want to have top quality lawn turf. We are happy to help all our customers select the right grass turf for them and to advise them on the preparation and turf laying.
